Decorative glass
Since starting the business with a single screen printing bench, we have continually developed new techniques with modern machinery to push the boundaries on what we can deliver.
We have mastered a variety of processes - shown below - to ensure that whatever techniques your glass design requires, we can confidently deliver these to the highest standards, and guarantee them for 10 years.
Silk Screen Printing / Back Painting
Proto Glass Studios specialise in glass screen printing using a range of opaque and translucent inks which can be printed directly onto the glass in any RAL or Pantone colour.
Digital printing on glass
At Proto Glass Studios, we have the technology to digitally print images in house, to then laminate between sheet glass. This type of printing allows very detailed artworks to be accurately reproduced, whilst being completely protected from scratching.
Kiln Forming / Slumping
Kiln forming or slumping allows texture to be an exciting multi-sensory experience through sight as well as touch. Since the Covid pandemic, design has shifted slightly to encourage more this use of visual texture.
Mirroring / Silvering
Proto Glass Studios’ rare ability to print reflective mirror means that any mirror design can be printed to create jewels of light and reflection. The mirror can even be combined with colour, texture and/or etching for incredible effects.
Etching Surface Treatments
We have a number of techniques that can be used to etch the surface of glass.
Dichroic Glass
Dichroic glass provides a simple but very visually enticing effect. It is available either as a film which is laminated between the glass, or as a dip coating directly onto the glass. The finish is one of iridescent shimmer that shifts in colour depending on the angle of light and the angle of the viewer, whilst still allowing light and view transmission.
