Printed Mirror
Proto Glass Studios are able to print mirror directly onto glass in any design to create jewels of light and reflection. This is often combined with other techniques such as screenprinted, etching and kiln forming with endless possibilities.
The traditional method of adding silver nitrate to glass with a protective backing is limiting and expensive. Our technique allows for printed mirror to be seen from both sides of a piece of glass, and due to it being a laminated product, the mirror is scratch resistant and therefore much more durable than conventional mirror.
The mirror can be offered on toughened glass unlike regular mirror and can even come in various colour shades. The versatility of printed mirror makes it suitable for a range of settings, from commercial interiors to outdoor, offering a modern and innovative twist to the timeless utility of mirrors.
The pentagonal sculpture above is made up of 6 panels of toughened and laminated glass that are each decorated with a bespoke green and black ceramic print with a printed mirror background. There are also gaps in the mirror print that enable coloured light to be projected out from the inside of the sculpture at night! This was manufactured and installed by Proto Glass Studios for Stirling Health & Care Village. Design by Anna Heinrich and Leon Palmer.
