Screen Print on Glass
Proto Glass Studios specialise in screen print on glass to create extraordinary decorative designs and durable functional prints for commercial, public and private architectural glass commissions.
What is glass screen printing?
Our glass screen printing process of pressing ink through a stencillised mesh screen allows for precise and intricate designs to be applied directly to the glass surface. This technique, also known as silk screen printing on glass or glass frit screen printing, involves applying ceramic inks through a stencil or screen, which are then fused to the glass for a permanent, durable finish.
Whether you’re looking for dot matrix design, printed borders, full colour designs or practical applications, our cutting-edge technology and skilled team are here to help.
Architectural Glass Printers
As leading architectural glass printers, we collaborate with architects and designers to create custom glass printing solutions for buildings, both internally and externally. Our prints not only enhance the visual appeal but also contribute to energy efficiency and privacy.
When safety and durability are paramount, Proto Glass Studios can offer silk screen printing on tempered glass. Printed tempered glass, also known as printed toughened glass, is up to 5 times stronger than regular glass, making it perfect for high-traffic areas and demanding applications.
Large and Custom Glass Printers
For projects that require substantial scale, our large glass printers are capable of handling even the most ambitious designs. Proto Glass Studios screens are capable of printing to a maximum size of 1700mm x 3000mm. However we offer custom glass printing onto glass much bigger than this if the print can be split.
Not only can we silk screen print on flat glass but we can also supply printed curved glass.
UK screen printing glass company
Based in Pewsey, Wiltshire and less than an hour from London, we are centrally based and the Uk’s go-to screen printing glass company. All works are performed in our state of the art studio facilities with viewings available on request. With over 30 years experience, we we pride ourselves on daring to push the boundaries on bigger and more intricate printed glass works.
Proto Glass Studios are able to offer translucent and opaque prints on glass in a huge range of colours.
Our opaque and translucent inks (ceramic frits) are the most flexible of all our products and the most robust. Fritted glass is fired permanently onto the glass once screen printed and are scratch resistant, UV resistant and suitable for all internal and external applications.
Our opaque ceramic frits are often used for splash-backs, black border screens, cladding, spandrel panels and wall art. The opaque colours work best with light reflection (i.e. the light from the front).
Our transparent range of ceramic enamels however work best with transmissive light and offer a strong and vibrant colour palette whilst retaining transparency and clarity. This allows light to enter and interact with the architecture; fantastic for printed glass windows, doors, screens, lighting and sculptures.
